Though it is Saturday, I still got up at 5 am as normal, and let the horses through for a graze and mucked out the paddocks. Then came in for brekky, and a break till the sun came up.
First job of the day was cleaning out the duck ponds, and this morning I let all 6 ducks in together. I had separated the two little ducks from the 4 bigger ones as I felt sorry for poor wee Emily with 2 big drakes on her as well as Percy. Now it is winter, there is less of that going on, they seem fine all in together. While doing this I also noticed Charlotte and Amelia's (hens) legs looked scaly, so I caught them up, and coated their legs with vaseline and Pestene. Soon figured out that you can wash this off you hands with cold water so had to trek back into the house and wash hands with hot water and soap.
Then off down to the horse.
Caught Sophie up, she has been going so well. Doing little canters out in the paddock, and she also gets on my truck now. I have also been working on leg yelding, both her hind quarters, and shoulder, as well as going sideways. And she is getting there.
Yesterday she was spook city, not sure what was going on, but this morning she was back to her normal self, and I made this little video of what we did this morning.
The I caught Vague, and trimmed her hoofs, she was pretty well behaved, cept for one quick mule type kick.
Then I got Ata in and trimmed her as well, and gave her a brush. She is such a neat little pony.
She has been having a bit of a break from training, but I will start doing a bit more with her again.
I had forgotten that I was not going to let them in for a graze this morning as I was going to worm them. Tika is still not good, and I have not had much time to work with her over the last couple of weeks.
She hurt her leg a couple of weeks ago, and I was very worried about her. I was just a little scratch, but the leg swelled up and I got the vet to her. But unfortunately the vet could not get near her, but gave me some Trimsulp to give her in a feed. I was not sure she would eat this, as she is a fuss pot about whats in her feeds. But she did eat it and her leg has gotten better. So this time I though I would see if I could her her to eat her wormer. She has refused in the past.
She refused again today! But I decided to worm the others anyway, and left Tika in the bottom loop on her own. the others were fine, but Tika was still not eating hers so I put some more molasses in it. She had a bit of a sniff and a nibble but still was not trying.
I left her for a while, while I got Sophie off the grass, and gave her some hay. The others I left in the arena so Tika would not end up being left on her own.
Tika was still not eating it, so here is the the bit about horse fudge. I added some more molasses and massaged it all in, the end result looked like fudge! And Tika started to have a nibble, she would then drift off, but she kept comming back for a bit more. So I left her to it and when I came back after lunch it was all eaten :)
So that is one side trimmed and wormed. Will do the other side next week (run out of wormer)
Well that was my morning, now having a break before going out and mucking out again, and feeding out before dark.
Forgot to add Vagues little kick!
