Still I have been working away with Ata, Tika, Vague and Sophie.
After much deliberation I have decided to bit Ata, I was going to do all her training in a halter, but she was pushing through it and getting a bit bolshy, so she is now being bitted. She is going well and is now long reining in the bit, just a light sweet iron loose ring snaffle.
I have been a bit slack with Tika and she had become very one sided. Cause I had so much trouble getting a halter on her at all, I did not push to do things on both sides. Hence I could not get a rope near her from her near side at all, or lead her from that side, but when I realised that I could not even turn her that way when leading her I knew I had to fix this mistake on my part.
So over the last week or two I have been working on getting a rope on her from that side, and her giving to me that way. It has been going well, and this morning I managed to lead her from both sides, and turn her both ways from both sides.
So progress is being made.
And last weekend I took Sophie to a western clinic. She was very good and we even cantered in circles. We have not done this before, as the ground has not been good enough at home for a green horse, she also side passed over poles and started to turn over her hocks. I was very pleased with her.
Now to get her going down the road with out napping. I was going to take her out today but I am just not feeling up to the task, so I am off out soon to ride her in the paddock and do the paddock work.
It was sposed to be fineish today but has threatened to rain on several occasions (like now) and is just not an inspiring day.
